brave new hair

If I had any courage, any courage at all, I would chop of my hair to look like this.

Jennifer Aniston is just so stunning.

paper doll project: part two

Paper Doll Project

On Monday, I introduced you to The Paper Doll Project.  The Stylish Housewife decided to pair up my mustard colored cardigan with a pop of color.  We both agreed that we love color yet are deathly afraid of it at the same time.  She originally wanted to pair it with my Old Navy Black & White checkered dress and colorful tights, but as I was hoping for warmer weather today, I suggested a bright-colored dress instead of tights.  Spring has officially arrived and this is a great way to kick off the new season!

Things I learned from the Paper Doll Project:

1. Take outfit photos any other place than my room – sunshine yellow is just not a flattering backdrop.

2. Iron. I attempted to take this photo the night before, but alas didn’t realize how wrinkled both the sweater and dress were stuffed in my closet.   It’s very wrinkled and worth being on Sydney’s awkward list.  Shame on me.

3.  I really need some color.  Not hitting up a warm destination this year for spring break really got in the way of becoming a bronzed beauty.

4.  I love styling other people’s clothes.  Especially when they turn out like this.

Here is how I styled the sweater during my 7×7:

Here is how Jennifer styled the sweater:

{Target Sweater, Old Navy Dress, Target Belt, & BCBG Shoes}*

Make sure to head over to The Stylish Housewife to see how I styled Jennifer’s Free People Trapeze Tank.  We went back and forth deciding on the shirt to layer under the tank and the end outfit turned out amazing!

Omaha Fashion Show: VIP Spring Runway Show

This past Saturday, Kiley {A Sequin Dress at Breakfast} and I trekked over to Omaha, NE for Omaha Fashion Week. Omaha. Fashion. Week. This is what we like to call juxtaposition.   Omaha Fashion Week is under the direction of Nick and Brook Hudson and the duo, along with their team, successfully kicked off their 2011 Fashion season with the VIP Spring Runway Show.  This Spring Show begins a series of events leading up to the largest Midwest Fashion Week held in Omaha, August 22-27.  Saturday’s catwalk  featured 12 designers out of 50 designers that will show in August and was hosted at Nomad Lounge.  The designers included:  Jessica Seeley, Shannon Hopp, Jane Round, Emma Erickson, Kate Walz, Yolanda Diaz, Kevin Steward, Chessna Fernald, Tiffany Headley, Zara Gonzalez, Audi Kuiken, and Sabrina Jones.

While some designer’s collections were exaggerated & over the top with costume and theatrical influences, there were a handful of a select few pieces I was itching to get my hands on.  Draping and floral print was a definite trend on this catwalk and I was definitely wishing for a few of my own pieces from each of these Spring 2011 collections– Jane Round, Shannon Hopp’s Spano LangJessica Seeley, & Emma Erickson.  I was most impressed with 14-year-old (!!!) Kate Walz’s collection Just Because by Kate Walz.   She began showing her collections last year at the young age of 13 and has continued to evolve as a designer, my favorite piece of her’s was a sequined pink maxi dress.  Accessories remained minimal, focusing on gorgeous flower accessories, be that a vintage felt bouquets, floral ruffles, or  headpieces by Princess Lasertron.  Jewelry featured on models can be found at Sarah White Jewelry.

paper doll project: part one

A few weeks ago I signed up for the Paper Doll Project.  For this fun blogger event, each blogger is paired up with another, and they chose a single article of clothing (or accessory) for their partner to style an outfit around that one item.

My partner is the lovely Jennifer,  The Stylish Housewife.  She has picked a snazzy number for me to style, a beautiful Free People Trapeze Sweater Tank (purchased last year and never worn…I think we can all admit to doing that…).  For my re-style, I chose the mustard sweater I purchased from Target before my 30×30 7×7, see here.

This Tuesday a.k.a. tomorrow, we will debut our outfits for all to see–so stay tuned!

On a side note, this past weekend, Kiley, from A Sequin Dress at Breakfast, and I took a little road trip over to Omaha, NE to the Omaha Fashion Week, Spring Finale Fashion Show.  Stay tuned for coverage about the event!
